NEUMA CHURCH PRIVACY POLICY
This Privacy Policy applies to the activities of Bridge Church Inc. (Registered Business Name Neuma Church) ABN 27 036 472 702, herein (“the Church”). It explains how the Church handles personal information and complies with the requirements of the Privacy Act 1988.
The Church values the privacy of individuals and reflects this the same in our practices as a church organisation.
2.1 Collecting Information
The Church collects personal information from church attendees, visitors, staff, volunteers and other individuals primarily for the purpose of providing personal ministry to those individuals, to administer their engagement with the Church and its ministries (including any volunteer activities) and to provide information about the Church’s events and ministries. Without personal information, it is not practicable for the Church to provide such services to individuals.
The main types of information the church collects are names and contact details and pastoral history for the purpose it is required. Our records also include details of events, services and volunteer activities in which the person has participated, and some personal, pastoral and spiritual history.
We collect most of this information directly from the individual themselves, such as when someone attends a Church meeting, personally provides information to a Church staff member, leader or volunteer, or who completes a Church survey or contact card.
2.2 Using and Disclosing Personal Information
The Church does not routinely disclose personal information to external individuals or
organisations without the person’s consent. Only Church staff, leaders and selected
volunteers access the information in order to use it for the purpose for which it was given
and collected. The circumstances, when we might disclose the information would include:
Like most organisations, from time to time the Church may use contractors who could have access to personal information on our systems, such as IT technicians. Any contractors and the church’s personnel who have access to personal information relating to the church attendees are required to adhere to this Privacy Policy in which they sign a disclosure stating they are not to keep this information or use it for any unauthorised purpose.
2.3 Let us know if you are receiving unwanted contact
If you are receiving correspondence from the Church and do not wish to receive this information any longer, please contact the church head office and ask to be removed from the particular contact list.
2.4 You can access the information we keep about you
If at any time you want to know exactly what personal information the Church holds about you, you can request access by contacting the Church head office. We may refuse to provide access if we are permitted to do so by law (referring to Australian Privacy Principle 12.3).
2.5 Changing and deleting the information we have about you
If at any time you wish to change personal information that is inaccurate or out of date, please contact the Church head office and we will amend you details. You can also complete one of our regular church surveys. If you wish to have your personal information deleted, please contact the Church head office and we will take all reasonable steps to delete it unless we need to keep it for legal reasons.
2.6 Storage and security of your personal information
The Church endeavours to take all reasonable steps to keep the information that we hold concerning individuals secure. Access to personal information is restricted to authorised staff, leaders and select volunteers at the Church and our information systems are protected by password security. Confidential files relating to pastoral care and counselling are kept secured by the responsible staff member or counsellor and are only shared with other leaders or staff members on a “need to know” basis.
2.7 What to do if you have a problem or question

2.8 Future changes
From time to time, the Church reviews and updates its policies. In the event that any part of the Church’s Privacy Policy is changed, the updated policy will be available on the Church website neuma.church
3.1 Giving
Please check carefully with all giving or payment amounts prior to completing your transaction. We do not normally give refunds if you simply change your mind. However, if you believe an error has been made in connection with processing of an online donation, please contact Neuma Church immediately via our contact us page.
3.2 Conference / Event Registration
Refunds will not be given if registration is cancelled within 14 days of the start of the Conference or Event. All refunds are subject to a $10, non-refundable, surcharge to cover online transaction fees and administration. Refunds should be requested via our contact us page or by phoning Neuma Church office in Richmond, Victoria on (03) 8420 0900. Refunds will be made to the credit card used to pay for the original registration.
3.3 Neuma Church Resource Centre
Credit notes, Refunds or exchanges on physical items may be given, at Neuma Church’s discretion, if products are faulty or the description of the product does not match the actual product or the product does not function as intended; in this case return postage is the responsibility of the purchaser. Refunds should be requested within 4 weeks via the resource centre email on [email protected] or by phoning the Resource Centre on (03) 8420 0928. Refunds will be made to the credit card used to pay for the original purchase.
3.4 About Online Giving
Our online giving option is provided for convenience to our members and friends who regularly give to support our initiatives. If you are a visitor to our church or site there is no obligation to make a contribution.
3.5 Type of Cards Accepted
We accept all Australian debit cards, and for credit cards VISA, MASTERCARD and AMERICAN EXPRESS.
3.6 Receipts
You may give to Bridge Church Inc. t/a Neuma Church anonymously by calling our office or giving into our BSB using Internet banking. For security reasons and to be able to issue a receipt we require a name, mobile number and email address for online and mobile credit card donations.
3.7 Currency
All transactions on the giving form appear and are processed in Australian Dollars (AUD)
3.8 Payments & Security Procedure
One-off credit card payments can be made using our secure online payment facility on our website (via the Pushpay gateway). If you have any questions regarding our security policy, please contact our office.

Neuma Church is a member of the Australian Christian Churches movement. Neuma Church and the ACC are committed to the highest standard of protection and safety for children or young people who attend a program, service or facility run by churches and ministries associated with the movement.
The ACC Child Protection Policy, officially adopted by the National Conference in April 2015, is binding on all ACC credential holders and churches. The implementation date became effective from 1 December 2015. Since that time, close to 8,000 ACC pastors, leaders and volunteers have received training through the Safer Churches program.
Structure
The Safer Churches Strategy is outworked through National, State and Local levels.
National: The Child Protection Policy was commissioned by the National Executive to ensure the ACC maintains the highest standard of compliance in child protection across the movement. Guidelines were developed to assist local churches and ACC pastors to outwork the criteria practically. The National Executive appointed Safe Ministry Resources (SMR), an independent company, to help prepare customised training and provide resources through the ACC Safer Churches Strategy.
State: The Safer Churches Strategy operates through the ACC State Offices. Each State has appointed a dedicated Safer Churches Officer to ensure the Child Protection Policy is implemented at both State and Local Church levels.
Local: Every local church board or governing body has the responsibility of actioning the Safer Churches Strategy in their church. A designated Local Safer Churches Person or Team is the contact point for reporting concerns within each church.
International: The Safer Churches program is also included as part of the ACCI Missions & Relief training for those working in other countries.
Training, Equipping and Resources
Training, equipping and resourcing pastors and church workers is the main emphasis of the Safer Churches Strategy. Workshops are held regularly across the regions of the States, and for those in remote or overseas locations, an online course is available.

Regular updates through National and State communication channels continue to keep ACC People informed, including articles in the EMAG on related subjects such as Sexting and Pornography, Caring for Volunteers, Child Safety Guidelines, Process for Reporting etc.
The Safer Churches Strategy includes WHS compliance and best practice when it comes to safe emotional and physical workplaces, as well as a template Code of Conduct for local church volunteers.
Ongoing Awareness
The Safer Churches Strategy was addressed at the annual State conferences in September/October 2015, where the structure of the Strategy was outlined in the lead up the implementation date, 1 December 2015.
State based training workshops began in December 2015, starting with training of ACC State personnel and expanding to the local churches. Meetings with the State Safer Churches Officers are held on an ongoing basis, as we continue to review progress and hone the Safer Churches strategy for even greater effectiveness.
Ongoing monitoring and review of any matters of child sexual abuse is a permanent agenda item at State and National Executive meetings.
Objectives
The objective of the National Executive is to ensure that every credentialed pastor has completed training and is up to date with the mandatory State based ‘working with children checks’ required, before their credential is renewed. The requirement for attending a Workshop is every three years at a minimum.
From the end of 2016 onwards, no ACC pastor can have their credential renewed without having completed child protection training at least once every three years. The requirement for pastors to maintain State based ‘working with children checks’ has been in place for many years.
Every church is required to have a Child Protection Policy implemented in their church. This is declared through the annual church dues process, with states offices providing support to those churches who need assistance in this regard.
New Initiatives
Since the implementation of the Safer Churches Strategy, the ACC remains open to adopting new recommendations that will assist in further increasing the level of child protection in local church environments. These include recommendations made by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
In the first period since its implementation, the ACC Safer Churches Strategy has ensured that thousands of pastors, leaders and volunteers in local church and ministry environments have undergone a high level of training in the area of child protection. The ACC is committed to building on this foundation to ensure that child protection remains at the highest level possible across the board.
